Runik's Cubes
2009
Runik's Cubes have been featured in Engadget, Adafruit and the ITP Winter Show 09 with their old silly name, "Super Duper Cubes".
They are a tangible interface to control music or video through midi. They consist of accelerometers, gyroscopes, led drivers, arduino boards and XBee radios and can detect and send orientation information to midi enabled software. The cubes were inspired by Reactable. Reactable, although an amazing concept and installation, requires a very specific and constraining setup. With Runik's cubes we tried to remove such constraints but also tried to keep elements that make Reactable so successful and unique.
