itouchyoutouch is a project that enables a very basic interaction among people, across space and time.

This is achieved using a very primordial form of interaction / communication, that of a touch. A multitouch surface is used that when touched emits particles from the outline of the hand. The initial concept consisted of using two identical networked installations and touches on one surface would appear on the other surface. Due to time limitations, we ended up only using one installation and locations and other touch related data were saved in an XML file. When a touch takes place, the oldest touch from the history of touches that is the furthest away from the current touch is displayed and as the current touch approaches the old touch, the particles among the two touches are attracted to the center of gravity of the other touch and their color changes. In this way, two touches are paired and a connection is signified.
